Jennifer Williams has received a commission through the Fort Vancouver Library Foundation. Her 48” x 168” mixed media painting will hang in the 5th floor reading room of the newly built Fort Vancouver Regional Library in Vancouver, Washington. Entitled “River of Knowledge” this piece is in memory and the generous donation from the late Jerry King. King was Vancouver’s city attorney for 20 years and a long time advocate for the public library. Jennifer’s mixed media process here includes handwritten words by King along with phrases pulled from Walt Whitman’s poetry, a favorite of Kings. Jerry King was loved by his community and he was looked up to at work and in his personal life. " I want this piece not only to be a painting he would be proud to have his name on but a painting with a message that will continue to inspire,” says Williams. The official opening is scheduled for July 17, 2011. Williams will also have a July solo show in Vancouver that will coincide with the library opening.
